Foundational terms, we work together! I promise to use my education, valuable training and experience to guide growth and help you be your best self.
Technical terms, treatment is individualized and interventions depend on your needs, which may fluctuate throughout treatment. The combination of various techniques is also referred to as "Transdiagnostic Assessment and Treatment."
1. Psychodynamic Theory - Process oriented. Raising self-awareness and understanding of the past and how it may influence present behaviors.
2. Rogerian Theory - Process oriented. Non-judgmental position to help foster motivation and build willingness to grow. Unconditional support and safe environment.
3. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) - Action focused. Facilitating a process of allowing valid alternatives to the way we think. These include mindful behavior, attention to personal values, and commitment to action. The combination of modifying our behavior and willingness to accept (as opposed to approve of) our psychological experiences, clients can eventually altar their attitude and emotional state. Evidenced-based.
4. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) - Action focused. Educating and applying ways to regulate intense emotions, tolerate distress, be present in the given moment, and effectively communicate with others. Please note, my approach is DBT informed, not adherent. Evidenced-based.
5. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) - Solution-focused. Encourages clients to challenge distorted cognitions and core beliefs, in order to change unhelpful patterns of behavior. Highlights how thoughts and perceptions influence behavior. Evidence-based.
6. Relational- Cultural Therapy (RCT) - Process and action focused. Inclusive and socio-political approach. Highlights how we are shaped by our social world. Developing or evolving "your choice" to improve quality of life and to bolster more personal power.
